Favorite Summer Eats & Treats in Delco

By: Sara Fritz

Everybody knows about Dining Under The Stars in Media, and of course, post- little league game outings to Rita’s, but two of my favorite DELCO summer traditions are grabbing ice cream at Scooped and enjoying a casual dinner sitting outside at Pinocchio's Restaurant, both in Media.

Although there are times it can feel less exciting than being down the shore or at your favorite vacation spot, there is just something about a warm summer evening in Media that feels like the perfect reminder to slow down for a minute, and for me, that involves enjoying an alfresco meal or sweet treat with friends and family.

One of the best parts about living here is that summer traditions are often simple. Bumping into neighbors in town, listening to live music at Rose Tree Park, heading to a Phillies Game, taking a bike ride or hike at Ridley Creek State Park. And in my opinion, all of these moments that make this community feel like home can also be capped off with a delicious meal or dessert.

Some people are loyal to traditional scooped ice cream. Others will argue that soft-serve is the ultimate summer comfort food. And then there are the water ice fans who believe nothing beats a cold lemon or cherry water ice on a hot July night.

So now we want to know- what are your favorite summer treats in DELCO?

Are you Team Ice Cream, Team Soft Serve, or Team Water Ice?
