Summer Feels Better When the Important Things Are Handled

By:Dane Czaplicki, CFA®

Summer has a way of reminding us what actually matters.

Long nights outside.

Trips down the shore.

Baseball games.

Family dinners.

Time with people we love.

And somewhere in the background for many successful families sits that quiet thought:

“Are we organized if something happens?”

Not in a fear-driven way.

Just in a real-life way.

One of the things we’ve learned through NextPhase DELCO is that many people delay important conversations not because they are irresponsible — but because life gets busy, the topic feels overwhelming, and they simply do not know where to start.

That is exactly why trusted local professionals matter.

At Members’ Wealth, our estate planning attorney Marie Feindt, J.D. recently wrote a thoughtful piece on one of the most common questions families ask:

“How should we prepare for if one spouse dies?”

Not exactly light beach reading.

But oddly enough, getting these conversations handled often creates something people deeply want during summer:

Peace of mind.

The ability to be present.

To enjoy the moment.

To stop carrying quiet financial stress in the background.

The article walks through a few of the common planning strategies Delco families consider and, more importantly, explains why there is rarely a one-size-fits-all answer.

If you’ve been putting this off for years, maybe this summer is a good time to at least start the conversation.

Built in DELCO.

Built for what’s next.
